All in a Day's Work

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I work for the professional associations of both the veterinarians and the animal health technologists in my province. These talented and caring people do remarkable work, and their work isn’t limited to companion and farm animals. Sometimes, the clients of veterinarians and AHTs are a real wild bunch.
Meet Huey, a wolverine with a toothache. Huey is a resident of the Assiniboine Park Zoo and he’s about to get a root canal whether he wants one or not.
Click here to watch a video of Huey's root canal. He may not be happy about his dental surgery, but he'll feel a whole lot better after it's all done. Have a speedy recovery Huey, and good luck with your next root canals!

Because I love animals, I’ve always thought that being a veterinarian would be a great job. If you weren’t in your current profession, or if you weren’t a writer, what job do you think you’d like to do?

  1. Hi Jana

Don't mean to hijack this post - but just had to tell you how much I enjoyed "Flawless"! I read it as a preliminary read for TWRP and at the time I had also sent in my own submission, "Guardian of the Jewel". After reading yours I thought to myself, who am I kidding? Then I realised mine was good too - just different. I thought yours was fabulous and have been looking out for it ever since. I just knew "Flawless" would get a contract and I'm so glad others will get to enjoy it as much as I did. It was a privilege to read : ) Thankyou!

  2. Hey LaVerne, you can hijack my blog anytime! Thank you so much for the kind words. You can't know how much they mean to me.

So you are a first reader for TRWP? That would be a very interesting job. You'd get a chance to see what is being submitted and to know what the editors are looking for.

How did you make out with "Guardian of the Jewel"? I'd love to read it!

  3. Yep - They were asking for readers and as I love to read... : ) One of the most rewarding things - and also unexpected - was seeing where my own writing sits amongst our peers. There are some very talented people out there!

Guardian of the Jewel was actually the story which was randomly selected to launch the Jewel of the Night series, so if you check out TWRP site, you'll see it there! It's my first published story, so I'm still so excited about it! I can't wait to read "Flawless" again to see what you and your editor have done with it!
